Cycraft helmet

Can anyone give me some background or history for Cycraft helmets? I found two of them at garage sales over the summer and think they look cool as hell. One is a half helmet and the other is a 3/4. Both dated 1966. I can add pics later if needed.

I just bought one off ebay. 1974 Goldflake. Its seems unused (no scratches, no rust, perfect liner), but the foam was disintegrated. The pictures do not do the color justice. I will get a picture of the sticker.

It does seem cheaply made though. Its very easy to disassemble.

Here are the pics of the Cycraft helmets. The gold one appears to be very similar in construction to my AF-40's. I kinda dig the groovy pin-stripe work someone else did . I think I'm going to paint the half helmet black with silver stripes. I paid a dollar for each and both had to be re-lined. Again I was wondering if anyone knows any thing about the brand because I cant find any info on the net. Just curious.

How did you guys reline them?
i really dig these older helmets, (theres a slightly similar thread going on, on another board now) But the crumbling liner and foam, not a good one. Other forum consensus was "Boo! no old helmets on my head"..

they are pretty great looking though... last winter i found some great one, evil kinevil type, same paint style and everything. i thought it might be useless, being so old.

how far do you guys go to refurbish them?
There are stick in liners im sure, anything in the way of replacing the inner major foam?

Thanks,
Pete

My 1974 Cycraft helmet seemed unused so the liner was in excellent shape, but the foam was dust. I deconstructed the helmet and copied the liner pattern. I used the wife's sewing machine and sewed a new liner with my favorite new material. I did not replace the foam because I could not find anything thin enough at the time. I did glue 1 rectangular piece of yoga mat to the Styrofoam around the forehead area to keep the helmet from flopping around. Glued on the new liner to the outside edge of the Styrofoam. NOTE: I used Gorilla Glue which swelled too much around the outside and made it hell to get back into the fiberglass shell. I will not be using that again due to the expansion and the fact that it is now permanently bonded to the Styrofoam shell. Pictures below:
