For my mental health I will build a bike - cd200 tracker

Beautiful spot. I'm jealous.

Never seen body filler like that. Remember it's a lot easier to do a few thin layers than 1 thick one.
thanks

I think I am going to try a different type next time as I didn't like working with this one. It will be another two weeks or so before I get a chance to sand the filler down and will post some feedback on it

So I finally decided to start working on my project bike again ;)

Started by pulling the tank out of storage with the aim of sanding down the body filler, turns out this body filler is fairly crap of this. some of it started peeling off.

I did a little bit of sanding and soon realized I need to stock up on new sanding pads before I can continue much more. but hey its a start

Will have to stock up on a bunch of grits and do most of the finish by hand

Today I went through to my mates whom has kindly let me make use of his blasting box to clean up my engine casings ;D (thanks Mike)

First up was the cylinder head

which after a while ended up like this

Which also after a good while turned out very nicely

I took a few bits back home to strip the paint off of them and tomorrow I will be heading back early to get a good bit done on the rest of the casings
After they are all sand blasted I am going to go over with with glass bead blasting and eventually onto polishing :)

Ended last night off with some paint stripper which has melted the skin on the tips of my fingers

Today I started at Mike's by removing the old paper gaskets that were being stubborn
5306235891_6f39e1bcf1_b.jpg

And then one at a time stuck bits in and started the slow processes of blasting them clean

The head after blasting

Noticed one of the fins had previously been snapped, added to list of fixes

this runs from the carb to both cylinders

by this point I had already done both side casings and decided to start on the engine block itself

these two pictures where half way to done

bits collecting

Starting to look like an engine slowly

both front and back drum brake things blasted

Then I decided I would clean up a carb and the carb bowl I had spent hours and hours previously polishing

this is a picture of the carb bowl after sand blasting and then bead blasting

5306242081_5e55184d42_b.jpg

And then I got happy and bead blasted one of the drum brake things
5306242631_147952b42e_b.jpg

5306834352_ca33ddd7b6_b.jpg

And while the bead blasting gives it a great finish, it takes a long time so I decided to cal it a day and come back once I have decided what parts I will polish and what I will paint.
