I finally got back to the 450!
The previous owner's changes have been undone. The saddle seat has been replace with the original seat and the clubman handlebars/instrument panel replaced with original style handlebars and switches. I also got turn signals installed and working again.
I also removed the carbs, cleaned all the jets and passages thoroughly, reset the air screws, synchronized them, and now it runs much better with no backfiring.
Now I only need to add the front brake lever/lines and it'll be back to normal.
