HAPPY CHRISTMAS

Thanx, TJ. Holiday greetings and sincerest good wishes for your continued good health throughout the coming year. From me n mine to you n yours, Happy Holidays!

Merry Christmas, health, wealth, and happiness for the New Year. And interesting motorcycles! Beachcomber, thought about you last night as the wife and I watched the movie Ford V Ferrari. I don't think they had Shelby's part near correct, and the race scenes were done worse than 50's movies but at least it wasn't all digital effects. Wondered what you would think of it. If it hasn't been in theaters there, it should be online soon.

Haven't seen that film yet, though I enjoyed this video of the rigs that they used to film it.

Thank you.

Merry Christmas, and A Happy New Year back at you.

Haven't seen it yet - due out in the new year on the big screen.
If you look carefully at the start of the race scenes in McQueen's "Le Mans" .... there I am. Can't miss me !!!! I was on my pal's shoulders with the camera literally head and shoulders above the crowd. Also there's a still of the same shot in the Le Mans book of that year. I was nearly famous.

That's one of my favorite movies! When I get back home I'll pop it into the DVD player and look for you. I grew up in Pennsylvania not too far from the track at Watkins Glen in New York. I saw Le Mans in theater and then less than a month later went to races at The Glen and was thrilled to see many of the same cars, especially the 917s in Gulf blue/orange, that were in the movie. Technology is far more advanced and they are now well out-dated, but those cars will always be what i first think of when you say "race car."

(EDIT: Sorry, 917s not Ford GTs, chalk it up to "elderly brain fart.")

RS - I stayed on after the race to be part of the "extras" casting - absolutely priceless. I have a picture somewhere of the 3 917's howling under the Dunlop bridge in formation - I was further round. That sight and sound will stay with me always. The only noise to rival them was the V12 Matras - talk about screaming banshees ! I went every year from 1968 to 1991 - then back in '94 for Shelby's 35th. Anniversary with Roy Salvadori [ Aston Martin ]. Pass me those Rose tinted goggles.............

Then we made the front page of the National French MNewspaper !!
