Hey Deviant... looky what I got!

Redbird

Dolor est Magister Optimus
DTT BOTM WINNER
Well I don't actually have it in my possesion YET, but I'll be picking it up this weekend...

It'll mainly be for the wife to learn to ride on, but I'm seeing 1/4 liter Bobber in my future ;D
It's been sitting up for a while, so it needs some TLC. But get this... 368 miles!

If I tell you what I'm paying for it you'll faint :p

Cool, but did you notice the speedo cable is not connected, might have been ridden that way for a while and no miles added....Still looks clean as shit though. And miles don't matter on a honda if oil was changed etc. you don't need to connect the speedo on these as they don't go fast enough to get a ticket ;D. But they are great learner bikes and make cool little bobbers. I want one for my wife to learn on, then to hack up after.

Cheers

Hell yeah RedBird! That is great! These little things really have nice lines for a clean bobber once you get them undressed. If they were bigger I'd build one for myself next. But the rebel450 isn't quite big enough for me and the 250, well I'd look ridiculous on it. I still plan on riding Rob's rebel a few times once it's done, but just to make sure everything's kosher as I look like a silver back gorilla on a big wheel when I sling leg over Eleanor.
C'mon... cough it up, what'll you drop on that beauty? ;D

I'm getting it from a friend, who bought it from the original owner. It seems that the OO bought it new, rode it for a while, and then driveway dropped it. (You can see in the first pic that the rear turnsignal is dangling.) It scared the crap outta him so he garaged it for a number of years.
My friend saw it listed on CL about two months ago and scooped it up because he had one like it as his first bike. He got it running "decent", but says the carbs still need a good cleaning. Well, said friend picked up another dirtbike project and unloaded the Rebel on me.

Maritime, I did notice the cable and inquired about it. Friend said he pulled it just to oil the cable and hadn't reattached it before the pic was taken. I believe him. But like you said, even if it is off by a few miles, the mileage isn't that big of a deal.

Deviant, duuuude... I'm getting for what my buddy paid for it... $300! :p

Holy shit man! Great pickup! Looking forward to see this one. You guys need to get a Rebel club together... ha ha ha

For 300 bones it could have 50K on it and be a good deal. Nice score. Lucky basta#d. If I could get one for twice that I would buy it for my wife in a heartbeat.

Cheers

Maritime.

I got it home ;D

The pics make it look better than it really is, but it's still in better shape than I expected. Parts wise it needs a battery, airbox cover, air filter, front sprocket cover, and a few nitpicky things like TS stalks, hand brake lever, etc. Elbow grease wise it needs the carb reassembled/installed, a tune up, and a buttload of cleaning/polishing.
The best part is... the wife is able to sit on it with both feet flat on the ground! ;D

I have got some serious Dude-Envy going on here bro! Not only is your cafe racer awesome, not only did you pick up a much better starting point Rebel than me... But your truck rocks balls too! ;D

(psssst, I paid like $4k for it "out the door", and did all the custom stuff myself ;D)

Update on the Rebel... I got the carb reassembled and installed, but it's still running wonky. I know it's missing an O-ring for the excelerator pump, but I think I may have missed something when cleaning the jets. ::)
Oh well, I'll play with it some more Wednesday :D

Update...

After soaking the carb in cleaning solutuion, to get all of the mud dauber nest/mud out of it, it now runs very well. The wife got her first riding lesson yesterday...

And she didn't drop it once :D
