Look what I just found - a piece of my youth!

Life 1/4 mile at at time!
Good afternoon everyone!

I found something that you all just have to see, well, I'm excited anyway. I was over at my mom's house helping her go through some old boxes. She's 83 and finally decided to get rid of some junk.

Sitting in the bottom of a large box was my very first helmet. I used to race go-karts when I was about 8 or 9 and this is the helmet I wore, complete with a little customizing with lightning bolts. I can even still make out the scar on the side that I got when I went updide down for the first time!

It is very similar in construction to the Davida classic helmet, web supports inside, but with rubber instead of cork lining. The leather strap is still soft and in good condition. I hope you enjoy looking at it as much as I enjoyed finding it.

Noel,

Despite the fact that somedays I get done with work and feel like I've lost my mind, no it doesn't still fit. It does look cool sitting on my desk though.

Love it, especially the lightning bolt.
Looks just the helmets they wore at Indy during the 50's.
Keep it, great conversational piece with your own true stories

That thing is pure beauty. I love that jockey style. Have a kayak helmet with the brim for my bicycle. It has wicked upside down scars too!

nice! thats real retro! i always liked that style. they have similar ones on ebay for pretty cheap like these. even include red baron goggles

With a helmet like that, I think you should be in stirr-ups riding a horse in some british fox hunt, in the northern estates with Prince Charles...rather than a bad-ass cafe racer...
