noob from KW (question about titles)

If it don't fit, you're not trying hard enough!
Hey, been checking out the site for a while now. Seems pretty fun. I just finished restoring/rebuilding my first bike (78 xs650) and now that I got the taste of building bikes....... you know, long story short, I'll never have spare cash laying around. ;) So, my next bike I've decided to do a Cafe. I was trying to find an old Honda for a decent price, and in bad cosmetic shape, but no dice. But I have found an older XS400 for $50. No seat, tank, side covers..... PERFECT!! But, the other thing thats missing is the title, unfortunately. I'm going to check it out tonight, but was wondering, how hard is it to get a title back in Ontario? Would I be better off trying to find a frame with a title? I found one on Ebay, but don't know if it has a title or not. Any experiences with this would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Rudy

Hey Rudy,

Welcome!!..
Where are you located?
I had a buddy of mine here in Toronto that bought a 69 cb450 w/o a title but had a bill of sale (reciept)
All he did was get a letter from his lawyer confirming that he bought it legitimately then took it to the MTO office and he had no problems getting ownership.

I guess the rules kinda depends on where you are...Im told that Justice of the Peace could the same thing...

Cheers

Thanks Noel. I'm from Kitchener/Waterloo (KW), well, I actually live in New Hamburg, but nobody knows where that is. I figured that it wouldn't be too hard to get a title. I'll quiz the guy tonight about it, see if I could get in touch with someone who has it, or find out if it's just lost. Or even if I just use it as a parts bike. Either way, 50 bones ain't bad for it being in my back yard. He also has a Honda 70 roller, I'm sure I could pick that up cheap too, if anyone's interested.

wow.. $50 is not bad at all!!
Its certaily worth the effort!! especially since you could probably resell it for $1500 once its all caffed out..

Welcome to the board!
I know where New Hamburg is! It has that pub/restaurant that sells pretty good food! I've eaten there twice!!!

:D :D

Welcome Rudy.
How about some pictures of the XS650 and 400 project. ;)
Love to see what you've done, and what your working on. For those of us without the money to have a project, like me. ;D
