prototype for my vintage bobber/cafe build

Been Around the Block
Hey Guys, i've been looking all over the web and biker-build offs and all kinds of things to try to find some insperation for my build i really like the old school or vintage racers that i;ve seen. and I've come up with this prototype.

Bike As It Sits - http://www1.picturepush.com/photo/a/4554589/640/4554589.jpg
Protoype - http://www1.picturepush.com/photo/a/4554524/img/4554524.jpg
Speedo in frame - http://www1.picturepush.com/photo/a/4554579/640/4554579.jpg
Gas Tank - http://www1.picturepush.com/photo/a/4554599/640/4554599.jpg
Completed tail section - http://www3.picturepush.com/photo/a/4554606/640/4554606.png

All Gas lines and wireind would be cover in "faux" copper tubing with brass fittings tieing them into where they need to go.
For a paint color i've been leaning towards a vintage "hammered" green-blue color closest thing i;ve found so far is from this bike, but its not hammered paint http://www5.picturepush.com/photo/a/4554618/640/4554618.png its also part of my insperation for this bike along with this bike - http://www5.picturepush.com/photo/a/4554683/640/4554683.png
Let me know what you guys think!

First it is nice to see an "Inspired" approach to a build, especially to the CM440/CB400 Hawk Bike/Frame. They are Butt Ugly Stock, I know I am in the process of building one now.

I would never say something can't be done. My concerns are:

Speedo - The location you show in the picture is directly above the engine. If you plan to use the stock Speedo or a mechanical Speedo you may have challenges in getting the cable to bend to where you need it to go especially once recessed in the hole. I would move it forward toward the forks as in your drawing. I think it would look better there and be more visible riding***Once you cut a big hole in the main frame you are going to need to reinforce it, probably weld in a metal tube large enough to accept the Speedo. You may need to go with a smaller diamaeter speed o to leave enough meet the frame***Since the top of the frame is seemed, plan on molding in a bezel as a part of the frame to finish the look.

Gas Tank- I would leave the large opening for the Gas Tank only, try and create some space under the seat for battery/electrical. Gonna need some mad skills to fab and make it right.

I really like the Idea for the Copper Tubing to hide wiring, maybe for Fuel Line and Cables too?

Do you think you could put the gas cap in the frame top as well? use a filler neck back to the tank?

Go For it.

the idea of the speedo/placement hasn't really been done in my mind yet except on the drawing, i know i wont be using the "stock" speedo i am going for a much smaller speedo about the size of the ones people put in there headlight buckets! so shouldnt have to mess with the frame to much, but it will be installed flush mounted with some sort of trim piece. Just curious if anyone knows where i can get a brass, antique looking speedo? I'd like to keep the look of this bike like its been well perserved, not like a new bike
