Rescued a near fooked tank...

bad assed, super fast and fully gassed
Well, when i got my GS her tank left a bit to be desired. At one point it looked like she fell over and flat sided the tank, and she also had a few "push ins" on top as well as a decent sized crease on the other side. I'd been looking for a better tank for her for a bit, and i even bought one from an 80 GS750L that already had stock knee dents in it. Nothing sweet looking, but they were there. I tried it out on my girl and it just didnt gel with the rest of the bike. A bit too low and too modern looking for what i am going for. Then a couple nights ago i got a wild hair up my arse and decided to try to save the old one. Keep in mind that i've NEVER used bondo, but i figured i hung and mudded drywall for four years, so it couldnt be too much different. HA! It's exactly the same...save for the fact that you'd 14 arms and be able to hang and mud a sheet in 5 minutes or less. My first batch hardened before i got the first pass smoothed...lol. And it was a big batch...oh well live and learn...over the last 36 hours i have bondoed, stripped it off, bondoed again, sanded, primed, stripped it all off again and FINALLY tonight i have succeded!! And i might add she looks pretty damn good if i do say so myself. Im on vacation next week, not going anywhere, but i get paid for working on my bikes all week whooohoo!! SOOOO ill finally get some pics up...be prepared for an onslaught!!

Do ytou have a cheese file? Thats the best way to pare it down - but of cousre the trick is to catch the bondo when it's still "green" (just starting to kick - rubbery and easy to shape)
