Rims

Skyteam Ace 125
Has anyone swapped out the factory rims for something else? I am considering swapping them for something nicer but wanted to know what you guys have done first? Also, getting a rear wheel with a disc is up there on my list of priorities!

Cheers,
VM

Ace 125... looking to do a reasonably straightforward swap if possible. Also want to upgrade the tyres to michelins... stock tyres are soooo bad

You're opening a real hornets nest. Things to consider: Axle diameter, hub width, wheel width, rim diameter, brake system compatibility, amd so on...

Why do you want to chamge wheels? You say youd like a rear disk. That in and of itself can be quite the exercise.

So there are no rims out there I could do a straight swap over with?

Good to have you back on deck vonmighty!

There may be a relatively straightforward swap available. I'm looking for some for my bike, but so far I only have possibilities.

Will post when I have anything definite.

I can highly recommend using Michelin M45 tyres in the stock sizes; good handling, good grip, and good wear.

Ha, yep Im around. Have been busy with my new 66 HR ute!

Let me know what you come up with Crazy, Im very keen to swap them out...

I am one happy lady, I can say that much.

Except the ace has an oil leak. There's always something!

Will PM you about it Crazy :)

Hello me dears.

Sort of on a rim/wheel subject-when I was but young and doing loads of cycling we would use a clever little thingy mounted on the brake bridges to flick off road debris and so prevent punctures. Flint catchers they were called and they certainly worked-there was nothing like coming home and unstitching your "tubs", finding and fixing a puncture and stitching it all back together again. Which was immense fun.
Was wondering if there is something similar for motorcycles, probably relying more on magnets to catch ferrous nasties before they damage the tyre (as motorcycle treads are deeper than cycle ones which only needed a very near fit to flick stuff away).

Apologies for steering thread a little but any thoughts would be most useful as I have just fixed second puncture of the summer. Grrr etc.

Cheers.

Rich.

Has anyone found a replacement rim as of yet? I'm planning on replacing the tyres and thought it best to replace the whole wheel if possible (so it can be balanced at the same time)...

Hello everybody,

A while back I found a picture of an Ace with different rims. Pretty cool. I only remembered the picture when I damaged my own rims and was looking to replace them. Done some research and i belief these rims are from a Honda MBX. I hope this helps.
