A little over a year ago I started talking to Semmins about building a bike for myself and a friend. Having seen pictures of his Imola builds we were impressed by the quality of the work and the detail. We decided to commission Semmins to build us a bevel SS tribute bike. It was a very good decision. Semmins is a terrific guy to work with and a really nice human being and you know how seldom you get to say that nowadays.
I didn't post an entire build thread but we have complete documentation if anyone is interested in the process. Other than the engine miles the bike is virtually fresh. The engine has been fully serviced including a new clutch, any wear parts, lines, cables, bearings were replaced. The bike weighs 45 lbs less than stock which is a pretty good bump to the power to weight ratio.
He started with a low mile 2000 900SS. The tank and side covers are alloy, all the striping and lettering are hand painted. The bike is now together and booked for the tuner and the MOT for early March. It is stock, except for the new pipes.
We put an Ohlins in the back and it has the fully adjustable Showa forks. Semmins has over 1,000,000 miles on bikes, far more experience than us, so he will licence it and put some miles on, which will allow him to give it a good shakedown and to dial in the suspension.
Sometime in late March, early April the bike will be crated and shipped to Montreal where we will pick it up.
