Snow at my place tonight...

Scruffy

West Tennessee
I moved back here to get away from that crap... Last weekend was nice enough to do some painting and wiring work.

90% chance of precipitation, winter driving warnings from the Memphis news programs. Started spitting light snow before lunch, has been off and on all day. No accumulation, but the pavement and the cars have a layer of ice on them.

It is NOT supposed to snow here...

Yeah, snowing here tonight also, but I guess that's nothing big when you live at 10k ft elevation in the CO mtns...ha!

The flip side is that you live a day's ride from many of the finest riding roads in the World.

Yesterday it snowed 4 inches thick and wet, had to sweep my truck off just to go to work.

This morning 1/2", the damn school closes. SO kid is off, so daddy is off. ;)

I know a guy who lives in Colorado. (He's an asshole.) He constantly bitches and moans about ColoFuckingRado. He rides a Harley, and the asswipe can only complain about the winter weather and his dirt driveway that he is too fucking cheap to buy some gravel for. The dick is no more than a day away from Estes, Moki Dugway, Million Dollar Highway, Rt-50, etc., etc.

What the fuck is wrong with people? Colorado is BEAUtiful!

I have ridden Million Dollar Highway myself. Would do it again. Rode 160 all across the state, except where I diverted north at Cortez to get to Ourey -> Durango. One of my most memorable days of travel ever. The speeding ticket in the San Juan Nat Forest notwithstanding... :-\

I always LOVED snow days when my daughter was a kid. We would load up the minivan go sledding with a bunch of her friends, or build a snowman.

Now, I basically just hate shoveling that shit. :)

I know this path well, as my wife is from Cortez, so we're down there a bunch. Even the drives around Carbondale ->Paonia -> Ouray ->anywhere is freaking incredible, and I have to remember to keep my eyes on the road, cause the scenery is just out of this world. Let me know if you cruise out sometime!

I wish that I would have had more time and money when I went through there. I was on my last dollars on the way home from a week in Kanab, UT with 60 other riders. I pulled into my driveway in Philadelphia with $23 left in my wallet. <G>

Sounds like an EPIC ride!

It was. Started from home in Philadelphia on my 30 year old Suzuki GS450. Five days and 2,500 miles later, I was in Kanab with 60 Harley riders. We rode around the area all week, visiting Zion, Bryce, and Grand Canyon North Rim. A smaller group of us broke off one day and rode Utah Rt-12.

On my way home, I kinda zig-zagged a little to hit MDH. Got caught in a sandstorm in Black Mesa. Spent the night with my bedroll up against the wall of a closed gas station for protection from the wind and sand.

If I was still living in the Cascade mountain range I wouldn't care if it snowed every day. But here outside Memphis 1/64" is enough to shut the county down tight. Like prison lock down tight.

I'm probably one of the few people living here who not only knows what tire chains are, but has them and knows how to use them.

Most of the storm system hit the MS River and rebounded to the northwest of us. And the city was still a demo derby according to the morning news...

Lucky y'all. Texas stays so mild... I hate it. There is only hot and less hot it seems like. Frickin 57 outside in fort worth, and I'm complaining? Haha
