So, whats the scene around ATL?

Been Around the Block
I am new to bikes. New to cafe bikes. New to the scene. Are there any of you guys from around Atlanta hanging out at DTT? Any good resources in my area?

I never really had my bike running much when I was in Atlanta so I never found any vintage bike shops or hangout nights or anything. There is a vintage japanese bike show in Marietta at WOW motorcycles in late April or May and some cafes usually show up. I entered mine last year but the show is really geared towards restored bikes, not our mutts. I think there are a few board members in the area. They will have to chime in.

There are some great places to ride around north ATL and especially up into Dahlonega and the mountains.

Well, my goal with this bike is to get it finished for early spring, and then ride to The Vortex for a ridiculously good burger with my old roommate.

So you live in Smyrna? I used to live there and my GF still lives there. In fact, I am about to leave to meet her for dinner at Chow Baby. Its gonna be damn good!

I'm in downtown Decatur and plan to start my CJ360T cafe build in December, just as soon as I offload a 1915cc VW engine to fund it. I've see a few vintage bikes at Twain's in Decatur on Thursday nights. I've seen a few cafes there. I've also started to see a lot more vintage Hondas and Yamahas in the last few months in Little 5 and the Poncey-Highland area.

Alright it looks like there are a few of us in ATL that have projects that we are starting. Maybe we should try to plan one day during the week that we can get together and help each other out on their bikes. An extra set of hands is always good along with a little collective knowledge. If you guys are interested let me know.

I would love this, but honestly, I don't think I could do that. See, here are the problems...

I work 12 hour shifts at night for a Sheriff's Office. Over two weeks, my work schedule looks like this:
Sun - On
Mon - Off
Tue - Off
Wed - On
Thu - On
Fri - Off
Sat - Off
Sun - Off
Mon - On
Tue - On
Wed - Off (Bike Working Day to get my bike on the road, at least until Spring)
Thu - Off
Fri - On
Sat - On
What I would really like to do hopefully is get together at least once a month during the riding season for some good food somewhere.

Throw into this mix my other project, a 1968 Ford F100 Ranger (to be worked on again starting in the spring), and the fact I really should be getting over to my buddies house to help him work on his 1951 Ford F1 pick-up truck, and it gets even more ridiculous!

Oh yeah. This is probably a ways off, but does anybody want to get together for the World of Wheels show? The Psycho Devilles are ussually playing that event every year. Plus, I think they play at the Dixie Tavern in Marietta near Hwy 41 often.

I'm over in Athens, about an hours ride from town. 78 and 316 are my quick inroads but 78 is loaded with traffic lights and 316 is crawling with college idiots and cops.

Ha, I live right over off of 2nd Ave, closer to Flat Shoals. I'll randomly see a big group of bikes at Brewhouse in Little 5 when the weather is warmer, and it seems there are a few bikes that show up in East Atlanta Village whenever I'm out drinking.

I'm going to try to finish the brakes and bring my bike up before spring comes around; maybe some of us can finally get together!

Holy Taco and the FlatIron in East Atlanta Village is where I've come across a few others.

Holy Taco is the shit! I go there every time I'm in the area. My routine is Holy Taco, then the Earl or 529. My band plays at 529 from time to time. You ever see that Triumph Bonnie sitting outside of Holy Taco?

That's my neighbor's Triumph. What's the name of your band?
