Tepuktangan? Ship to India?

DetroitStyle

If it leaks, we can fill it
I have a frame for sale and have been getting PMs from a new user with 0 posts named "Tepuktangan". He wants me to ship it to India.

has anybody else gotten anything similar? I'm skeptical about shipping anything international or exchanging payment information with them as well...

If the guy really wants and need it, as he is saying, I'm happy to help. But I don't want to waste my time or potentially lose my arse shipping this thing

ebay bro, ive sold like 500 bucks worth of RD parts to those guys over there, there is a HUGE market for them for some reason. at least the guys ive dealt with, they have me ship it within the continental US, to an international mail forwarding company, i get paid once the box makes it to the carriers door, not to India. just tell them you cant do international shipping and to setup an account on SHOPUSA or something similar.

The 'internet' way of selling things is typically you get paid, then ship the item. While that seriously skews in favor of the seller, it's the way eBay works and of course all online shopping.

For private sales that offer little to no protection for either party, you might consider working something else out, but - as always buyer AND seller beware.

If I was being asked to ship a frame overseas, I'd have every penny of the sale + shipping in my hands verified before even packing the frame up.

I just got a PM from an unknown "member" with zero posts asking if I still had parts for sale, that I've never had for sale. Haha. Same broken english and whatnot as the standard spam emails that Craigslist breeds.

Sure it's not Indonesia? "Tepuktangan" means applause in Malay/Indonesian, and I don't think it's a word in Hindi. I work in Indonesia and if it's there can help suss it out and/or facilitate.

You are right... he wants it shipped to Bali...

I know plenty of great folks there and elsewhere in Indonesia who are into bikes, and I know there is a metric shit-ton of scammers as well. I do work over there -- I'm a research professor -- but also do some business on the side, including moto-related. I'm fluent in Indonesian and I am happy to reach out to this person to see what's up, if you like. What frame is it, BTW?

It's a 1972 (I think) Honda CB350F frame. I know it's relatively rare compared to the regular twin CB350... he seems desperate.

My issue is, I don't have a title for it. I don't know what the rules are for shipping a non-titled bike out of the states or into Indonesia?

Dunno about getting it out, but he won't have any trouble getting it figured out over there. A little cash to the right person, or if he knows someone in the right place... I've never seen a 350F (or 400F) over there, but I imagine there are a few. I'm not sure you'd need a title to ship it out, but maybe someone else does.

I ship a ton of British parts to Indonesia. Huge market over there.

Hell, they typically pay more for shipping than they do the part.
