Not a bad idea... I may actually try it, but there is no way that the bike in the pic would be 1000. It appears to be a 1969 or 1970.

Some people dont know what they have. I see lots of cheap bikes on craigslist that should be listing for 1-2k more than the asking price. Usually theyre gone by the time i call though.

It was legit. The bike is sold, but not to me. Owner says that it's a 1968 making it a sandcast. Which in good shape could get 10 the asking price (or more).

1969, somebody scored majorly. I would have flown over there to get that thing for $1000 if that was truly the bike in the picture.
