Looking for someone/some place to true my rims. The only shop I've found quoted $250.

Anything?

I would say get a dial indicator and do it yourself. You don't really need a truing stand, it's possible to just use the axle. I think a dial indicator is around $50, but you'll find it pretty useful.

Just set the axle on some 2x4s or something? I think I could do it with a little youtube watching.

I did my rear wheel in my living room last night while I watched a movie. I used the crappy stand I built out of scrap pallet wood. It uses a screw as the "dial indicator". ;D

Well, I went over to Don's tonight so he could true my fresh laced rim up. He even let me hang out and watch! While watching he told some cool stories about dirt track racing, Norton Commando 750s and a shop he used to own where he laced 300 rims a week. Guy was eager to teach as long as I promised not to start up a rival business, haha. Overall, good guy, I'd recommend him. He said he'd appreciate it if I passed his info on so here it is.
