I traded an old black biker style jacket I never wore for a 70's vintage brown AMF Harley Davidson racing jacket at a resale chain. this place is notorious for ignorant hipster clientele/workers and when i did the trade, i told the shop girl

"At least it'll be used for it's intended purposes"

Shop girl completely serious:"What's the intended purpose of a leather jacket?"

Whoa man are those prices out of whack. Like 300% out of whack. Brooks jackets for over $300? There's plenty of those here in Toronto going for under $100.

The thing is... you have to know where to go and who to talk to....
Most people dont so they pay the big bucks.. ;D

But... If its selling for that much and people are buying, then the market dictates the price :. the price is not really out or whack...

It's a tan British Cycle Leathers from the 70's

I really dig it - it's a jacket I would have seriously considered buying even if I wasn't getting into riding. Hellooo 70's!

Pic from the blog in the original post, Brando-style leather jacket. I'm freaking out at the moment because this is the jacket I wear most days! HA! Even down to the diagonal zipper that they mention...geez, who'da thought? I knew there was a reason I liked it ;D

haha, I've been looking at that jacket on ebay, theres a few up there. Hows it working out for you? Comfortable? good quality?

Seems like a killer jacket.

also, killler jacker Rodders, that is one badass collection of leather. Any cattle would be proud to give his hide for such a thing as that.

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA thats your basic Harley rider/young hipster. I bet if you asked Harley riders why they wear leather 99% would answer something to the effect of one of these answers:
"That's what all the other Harley riders wear" or "Cause it's cool" Possibly why they all wear leather vests. Jackets must get too hot when they just ride from bar to bar and down city streets real slow so everyone can see/hear their bikes.
