Found it on Craigslist... would be about a 3 hour round trip and the trailer is full of junk.
Thinking about offering a $100 even but taking the full amount just in case. It was listed earlier in Nov with the same pics but more vague on the detail.
no carbs or exhaust, motor runs good, frame was chopped to make hardtail, needs finished and welded. everything on table is what you get. want it gone today. $125 obo
Wonder why the change in description on the engine... or if it's the same one, maybe he developed a conscience?
To me it looks too long in the pics but the rear of the tubes still need cut to intall the axle slide mounting plates.
How bad could it be fucked up at this point?
the thing about 125 bucks is you can spend that money on any thing it is what you call usefull that thing is to long to be usefull and by the time you corect the frame you could of built your own hardtail just my take
It may work if you shorten the tail by at least half. As it sits right now you'd probably need to splice together 3 chains to reach the rear sprocket, not to mention the amount of slack there'll be. That's one time consuming project.
Agreed, I figured worse case I could sell off the parts and recoup my money. I am still waiting on a reply about the title.
One of the posts says it needs welded so maybe the tubes are just tacked in place. I though I could remove them and cut to a proper length more or less starting over. I know where there is a couble CB350 twins that I can measure and build a jig.
I'll quite holding my breath and see how the chips fall.
no matter what, its only 125 bucks. I personally (everybody else probably) spends 125 bucks on dumb stuff all the time. If you buy it and it is already squared up, axle plates finish weld and bam a great start. If not, cut the hard tail off, go a few inches shorter and jig it up your self. win win
I agree with the others. The parts are probably worth 125 but to be honest I would expect a cluster f*** with the rest. The backbone is stamped steel and its hard to tell how he tied into it. Structurally there could be problems and the tie in is hard to pull off visually. The entire backbone is stamped including the steer tube all the way behind the motor and down to the bottom rails. If you decide to redo the backbone something to consider just to be clear the steer tube is stamped steel. No tubing at all there so even if you replace the backbone you still have to tie into the stamped steel somewhere. Its really tough to pull off but it can be done. Look at what Kanticoy did with Von Yinzer's.
I don't mean to be a downer but wanted to give you a heads up.
Don't worry about that ! That is exactly why I asked, I am really happy with everyones honesty. Sure don't want to waste money on a project that would never be right.
