....oh yea.... And mid summer I got a Parts XS1100 for Free....tore that one down pretty good tho going to keep some goods from it like the kick start.....
There is a shop in Spain that has done a couple of XS1100's. I'm inspired by what they've done.
I ride a stock Special. The front end is fitted with upgraded springs, Race Tech emulators, and a TKAT fork brace. It gets around the turns just fine. There's plenty of help with the basic bike at XS11.com.
I have a 100% torn down 1100 in my garage if you need any motor or tranny parts....brakes, front end, rear end...basically everything. I was going to ebay it all off but don't have the time. I'll get you best prices for anything you need.
I'm sure you've seen my 11 by now. Im from Andover if you need any help with this thing. I've been around the XS11 for about 6 years. Fast as hell when the carbs are right, They hate pod filters
How did you jet yours? .....im going to be running K&N Pods with a 4 into 1.....Both Master cylinders i have are fucked i found one from an old ninja 600 which seems to be working testing my calipers now so i know if i will need new ones .....lots of parts off.... Lots more to go.....
Start with stock jetting. You can make changes when and if necessary. Stock mains were 110 all the way across. Pilot jets are 42.5. Tuning with pods might be a little challenging. I'm assuming the carburetors are the original ones that came with the 1980 Special. There was a significant change in carburetors between the 1979 and 1980 model. Also, there were subtle differences in jetting and needles between the standard and Special models.
You just need to buy the K&N Ovals and make sure they don't block any of the vacuum passages. I don't know my Jetting as I had them sent out and base tuned to my Intake/Exhaust. It runs fine and fast, has a little flutter at times on hard accell but it isn't a problem when its dialed. It will in fact run like absolute shit with the Ebay pods, and I assure you I'm not one of the "oh my god you cant run pods crowd", I'm one of the "I've put 25k on a modified XS11 and they do not take well to intake changes unless you actually take the time to compensate and tune it" crowd.
Save that girl. i've also got a lot of 11 parts local if you need anything
