    Engine rebuild "kits"??

So, I plan on a pretty complete overhaul of my engine, pending teardown. Now, I have already bought a carburetor "rebuild kit" to do so on my carb, but when I look into preassembled engine "kits" I haven't had much luck. I realize there is a lot more to it, parts wise, but I was wondering if you...

Oil in my Left Crank case cover?

Gravy. Thanks Big R. It's on the center stand as well as on cynder blocks under the frame. I didn't know there were return passages in the crankcase cover. I am a total newbie. Hey, do you happen to know if my cam cover isn't coming off because I forgot to loosen the rockers first? Thanks again.

Oil in my Left Crank case cover?

So, I'm in the midst of my first total teardown and rebuild of my 74 CB550 and, after I finally got ahold of an impact driver to get the seized screws off, I open the left crank case cover, and oil spills (or rather drizzles) out on my foot. uhhh? I don't think oil belongs in there. Not that...

    74 CB550 Step 1 of 5000 (help)

So, I know I keep replying to my own thread, and I admittedly like that it bumps it back up, but REALLY, I seem to have answered some of my own questions and replaced them with different ones. After reading the Carb theory 101 link provided by that awesome thread, I realize my suspicions are...

    74 CB550 Step 1 of 5000 (help)

Oh yeah, One more quick thing. When draining my tank I noticed that fuel comes out of the right (closer to the exterior) petcock 'hole' (?) more than the other (interior one). Like, no matter how I shook the fuel around and distributed inside tank. It still occasionally came out, but at like a...

    74 CB550 Step 1 of 5000 (help)

WOW. Thanks a lot fellas. I have quite a to-do list now. I went ahead and downloaded that shop manual and it looks vastly more informative than the Clymer's. Thanks. So, unfatunately, I didn't get these replies in time to put some PB in my cylinders, but I do have a can (Miraculous stuff). But...

    74 CB550 Step 1 of 5000 (help)

So, there has been 3 years of my bike sitting in the garage and then, I just move back and I come home and start the teardown. I am a super begginner: I have primitive tools, that I JUST bought, and a clymer's manual. I greatly appreciate any hints/tips and will not be offended if you call me...

Orlando, FL- starting a 74 CB550f Cafe Conversion

So, I used to ride my baby relatively stock and bought it because... well, aestetics. Electrical problems insue, lost key coupled with a guilt of innadequate maintenance make me park her in the garage. Fast Forward 3 years of it sitting in my garage and then, after I graduate college, I come...
