Just got anew tail light. It has 3 wires - red, stripe and black. The existing wires on my Virago have 4 wires. I believe two of them are ground (black) . Do I just combine the two black wires into one bullet connector to attach to the new light's ground?
Re: Anyone use Vinyl stripes on tank?
Application was a disaster. Couldn't avoid a number of creases and popped bubbles . Looks good from a distance , but am hoping that many Coates of 2k clear will disguise the imperfections
Thanks - a much better deal than the eastwood mask. I did call 3M to confirm it works with isocyanates and was told yes - if you use this filter

Upon further research, I guess the answer is probably not... But I found one that Eastwood sells that should work - and for only about $20. However, I think its only good for one use - with isocyanates.

I've been reading about how nasty the 2K sprays can be on your health. I take enough risks just riding my bike. I'm using a rattle can of 2k clear coat on my tank and don't want to do anything stupider than normal...LOL
I hope this Harbor Freight mask will do the trick...
Looks a lot like one I recently bought from Eddie Moto (Thailand) on eBay, but paid about double. I measured mine and it's about 24" and I think sized about right. So the one you are looking at might be a bit small.
The tank needed a bit of bondo prior to priming. Didn't pressure test it but did treat the inside for what might have been flash rust. Not sure what it was. The outside was slick with oil. The aero plane cap is kind of crappy. Will not close flat and will probably replace it. However, faults...
I am painting a Benelli Mojave tank - from India with a rattle can.
Nearly done - and hope to eliminate a little orange peel with sanding and several 2k clear coats.
My original plan was to paint a stripe on the top. Today i discovered vinyl stripes of the sort I has planning to paint...
Yeah.... I just sent an email to the eBay seller asking if it's defective or are they just made that ( crappy ) way... And since I haven't posted a review yet, perhaps they will be accommodating ... Not a big deal....
Yeah... I know, when you buy stuff from India, you take your chances... The tank does not leak but will need a bit of bondo to be perfect. That's what I expected. I like the looks of the aero plane gas cap that came with it, but it bugs me that it does not close flush. It also leaks a lil bit...
You.....negative Nancy....you!
You're probably right.... Can anyone recommend a tank coating product?
I was actually be expecting to need it. It may be an ugly duckling now....
The little hole is connected by a tube to the gas cap. So I guess its that rain over flow thing.
Incidentally - if anyone's interested - I paid $360 - including shipping. There are cheaper ones, but I liked the gas cap.
The tank arrived today - slick with oil. As expected, it will take some work to make it perfect, but overall am pleased. The aero plane gas cap was not connected and have not yet tested it for pin hole leaks. The inside appears to be coated with some red substance - and I don't think it is...
Tough choice, but in the end decided on neither. Just ordered one from Motolanna. They are made in Thailand...
Total cost with ($64) shipping was $192.00. Now the long wait...
Shopping for a cafe seat for my xv750 build. Was strongly considering one from tuffside that cost $275 until I looked on eBay . Many look very similar for about one third of the price. I'm all for made in the USA but at over 3 times the cost? Anyone got any experience with the cheap seats?
Ok, that's really helpful . Since I see petcocks advertised with a npt description, which size do I look for? 1/8 or 1/4 npt? I assume it is either the larger or smaller size that goes into the tank. ( I know I shouldn't assume) I'm guessing it's 1/4. Thanks
I've read many have pin holes and rust. Also, you got to seal up that ugly hope they all have on top. That said, it hasn't stopped me from buying one on eBay. I ordered one with an aero plane cap. Should have it in a few weeks and will report with pictures.
