Re: Project "Hurst" - '82 GL500 - Makin' Decisions
Seeing as I lost posted progress 2 years ago, I'll update on a little progress that has happened since I started college (Mechanical Engineering) in 2011. Right now the goal is to get her road worthy first and then I'll dig deeper.
Here's some...
Re: Project "Hurst" - '82 GL500 - Makin' Decisions
Today I made actually progress! My foot has gotten better to the point where I can walk around on without any pain, I started making some head wind. First off, I've had enough of looking at this thing everyday half tore apart, so once again I...
I tried both methods but still no luck, I'll take it to work tomorrow where I keep the good tools! I think I should be able to wrestle it off.
Thanks again,
Andy
Thats what I expected it too be but all it has is a single phillips at the bottom. It is some chinese repro so it could be different then a standard Yamaha headlight.
I bought this headlight for a Yamaha DT125 MX from ebay a while back and I spent a good hour trying to remove the trim ring but something was holding in there tight! Anybody have an idea on how to do so?
I was also wondering if anyone knew of a good conversion for the wimpy RP30 bulb...
Re: '75 CB550 - Gulf - TIRE
Ringo,
Your paint is unbelievable! You have quite the fabrication skills, your work on the tank and seat are top notch!
Good luck on finishing her up!
Andy
Looking good Bull10x, I like your Flux Capacitor! There are a few CX builds going on and I believe I have the only GL build going on here at the moment. Good luck with your time travel device ;)

How about the complete fairing? It's just taking up space, sent me a PM and we can work something out.
Re: GL500-Hurst Edition
Well, I finally did something productive for this project. I finally found a metallic gold spray bomb today, and my new grips came in.
Decided that I will just do the gold now and add the white later one. Got some ideas for my seat too, going to keep the original...
Re: GL500-Hurst Edition
Nothing exciting to report once again, picked up some fiberglass materials today. Hope to make copy's of the original side covers and begin shaping a seat. Still need to decide on some paint, anyone know of a good metallic gold spray paint? Went around to a few places...
Re: GL500-Hurst Edition
Nothing exciting, still hobbling around these stupid crutches, but I took a weekend trip to Palm Springs to see Metallica, and on the plane I managed to put my thoughts into an archaic drawing:
Just where I plan on going with this. I've decided to give her the full cafe...
Re: ScrapMetal's CX500 Project
The Chopper Charles site has loads of great information, just don't let their negativity on pod filters affect you!

Re: GL500-Hurst Edition
It was the left, I've got one of those huge boots on too, so I can't drive my manual car either! It's going to be a long four weeks.
Re: GL500-Hurst Edition
Well, got bad news this morning, I dropped my dad's CX500 on my foot yesterday morning and fractured it in 3 places. So no riding for me at the moment but hopefully I can use this time to get this project finished up whilst I wait for a title.

Re: GL500-Cafe/Resto/Cruiser
Well got some bad news, I have to wait about 60 days or so for my title application to be processed. So no riding for now, I plan on building a seat and doing a paint job for now and figure 60 days will be enough time to do it right. For my color scheme I'm going to...
Re: GL500-Cafe/Resto/Cruiser
Thanks t71ford, the screen name is just an inside joke with my friends, for the longest time I drove my little 4 banger Saturn without a muffler or cat and it was loud and annoying! So the joke stuck around and I made it my screnname. No sleds for me though, I do...
