Hi,

I have a 82 CX500C that I am going to Cafe. I have had parts coming in since January. Clubman bars, speedo, tac, water temp gauge, pods, etc. etc.

I have been active over in the CX forum.

I have 3 other CX's 2 fully dressed thai I am fixing up to sell and my wife's bike.

My wife took a weekend long class in Aug. and got her motorcycle license. She is to light for the Goldwing and I got her a CX500. I started working on it and decided that I liked them( some aspects Blow!!)

Plus withe three other bikes I get to liberate the best parts for the cafe bike

Now this bike is going to be different than any thing that I have see before (but probably in 24 hours there will be just as many pics showing me what I have not seen before )

Engineers In there wisdom put the anti-freeze overflow tank wedged between the motor and frame. You need to drop the engine to remove the tank.

What I am going to do is relocate the tank to the spot where the air box was.

Not vary interesting... but wait there's more.

Inspiration for the new tank was from a water level sight gauge off a commercial boiler from the 50's.

What it is is a clear Plexiglas tube with aluminum caps with gaskets with three brass rods holding it clamped together.
now in each cap are ten LED's the five inner ones are ultraviolet and the five outer ones are bright white. But wait....There is more.

I could not stop there what I did was bought a battery powered aerator for an aquarium and bought the largest Amp output cig lighter plug in voltage adapter. I cut in to the adapter got rid of any extra plastic soldered on longer 12ga leads and presto A bubbling Flux capacitor that glows green.

I will post pics soon

My thought was to have a small band some place with that same warning. maybe on the bottom cap?

The blender Will be on the third one, First I have to go back and meet my mom! Yikes!!

I will go out to the shop and snap some pics and then post. I have kid duty today hopefully the wont kill or seriously hurt themselves, each other, the cats, fire, etc,etc umm... I think I will make it quick :(

Pis of the new Flux Capacitor. in the second pic you can see the bras barb for the air line. this was the mock up to see if it would work. so the LEDs are glued in but once I get to sizing the chamber and fabbing brackets to hold it I will stream line if I can the hose fittings

This is what I am working with. the front fender is off a 80CX500D mounting holes are a bit off and you can see the fabed up Roc City Roadster seat on the bike.

I mocked 6 seats up in card board and decided on this one I am thinking of the 7" headlight bucket from Roc City also. The bucket will be big enough to mount my water temp gauge in

I emailed Sean at Roc City Cafe in regards to the Roadster seat. Conferming that that was what was on the CX500 Cafe bike pictured in the Gallery on his web site.

I also asked about his 7" headlight bucket that he sells. It is 7" ID but what I need is 7 1/2 ID he said

"Hi Doug, the ring itself has to be 7" at the outer edge, from what I found out, they're pretty rare in that size, so you almost have to go out and buy an old 350 ring, I'm designing a new bucket for the xs650 we're building though, and it's a more standard size, so that will be around sooner or later -Sean"

So I will email back and find out what the ID will be and hopefully it will work because I want the extra room to sink my water temp gauge in it.

Bull,

I too am building a CX500 project, but, um, mine is staying in this time line. Your plan looks very original! I received my seat from Sean at Roc City (same seat), it is pretty neat stuff! Glad I let the pros do that part. Looking forward to this build.

Looking good Bull10x, I like your Flux Capacitor! There are a few CX builds going on and I believe I have the only GL build going on here at the moment. Good luck with your time travel device ;)

Just saw some of your posts over on Cx500forum, figured I would check out your build thread here. Very cool idea on the overflow container!
