Picked up this 1981 xs11 1100cc Yamaha today for pocket change with clean and clear papers. Too big to build a cafe out of? I do like a challenge...

Welcome to the XS11 club. If you need bike specific info there's a great repository at xs11.com.

They're really great bikes. A bit portly for a classic cafe, but I've seen nice examples. Mine's a bit of a hack job/ bob/streetfighter. The engines are rock solid, they have loads of power. We love pics and build threads, post 'em up!

I'm really excited to strip this thing down and get planning.

Took the seat off and hooked up my Battery Tender. Will have a few hours tonight to pull the carbs and see what kind of condition they are in. Fuel has been sitting in the tank for 2-3 years, petcock left open. Weenies...

Oh, thinking about using this '71 T250 tank?? I really like knee cutouts though, will have to pull the tank and see how the Suzuki tank looks, have a spare set of clubman’s I might try and mount for now, but definitely will be doing clip-ons, what a beast.

I haven't done a very good job at documenting any of my other projects, so I'm promising to upload photos and progress (if any) at least twice a month!

No way in hell! I should take a pic of the sissy bar so you can see it. Its mammoth, probably weighs 40 lbs! The back end of that frame is going bye bye.
