1968 CB 350, project # 2

Smoking Star

Been Around the Block
I couldnt help-my-self, saw it on ebay and I had to have it. Went and picked it up yesterday.
It was a barn find, and a single owner. possibly original miles? runs like a champ, had it out today
ridding around the block, shes a quick little bugger.

I understand how people can accumulate collections of these bikes, I would probibly have a few more if my garage would fit them all. but i guess i should be happy with 2. Any tips on shinning up those Covers, and refreshing the paint on the tank?

covers are rought they are going to need to be sanded and polished.... the tank if it does not have any dents i would say just wet sand the whole thing again lay some clear down, wet sand, clear, wet sand clear, wet sand buff!

Congrats on your 68, the most collectible CB350. Only year of the high rev cam, that's why it's so perky.

Did the CL's have the same high rev cam & specs as the CB? I have a '68 CL350 in boxes that I'm working on getting back together. Trying to decide whether to go cafe or original. Most parts are in really good shape except for the tank which is why I'm thinking about a CR replica with a longer tank. Any idea if they are bringing more money in original trim or very well done cafe's?

Def. feel the same about cafeing such a nice bike. This is just me though it is a nice find, and def not a basket case. I say to a very light build with no cutting. Keep her very stock. Just shine her up alot.

I’m thinking the same thing, I like the color it just needs a new seat, I started rubbin away with steel wool and chrome polish. I need some good pics of how they looked stock.

Yeah, this is definitely a restoration project not a custom build. I wouldn't change anything... just polish, polish, polish and then more polish. Looks awesome, can't wait to see her all shined up!

So shes running alittle funny, the left side wont idle, and only kicks in if i give it a bit of gas. If its WOT it will run fine. COuld it be somthing stuck in the slow jet? I was playin around and decided to switch the spark plugs the ot opposit sides and the problem moved with the spark plug. so I put a new plug in but the problem surfaced again in the left side. so im back at square one scratching my head.

Put a diff exhaust on it , the other set was all rusted out underneath.

Here's what you want to do before driving yourself too batty :)

Check timing
Check valve clearances
Install inline fuel filters to keep crud from the gas tank out of the jets
Clean jets etc. in carbs (just drop the bowls and clean out the jets / confirm floats are moving freely)
Sync the carbs

tell me more about the cam? i have a 68 parts bike that the motor is stuck from siting is it worth chaiing out the cam (if its good) to my 71 cl?
im using that tank on my build with same colors
cool find! got to love the chrome chain guard

The 68' redlines at 10.2 and anything after that redlines at 9.2 or somthing I know that to be one diffrence, unsure about any others.

I thought it was 68 and 69.. I thought the motor Im using was a 69, but it has the "peppy" cam. Either way, Ive been told that you cant just use the cam alone in your later motor, you might need the whole head, but Im not sure.
