I've lurked here for a long time,And have been around a while also.I thought I'd share this little foray into insanity. The story begins with a brother finding a 68 CL on Craig's List near his home. For a couple hundred he pickup a nice example with a ton of garage damage.(dented tank, broken turn signals ect.)A friend of mine tells me that he has a pile of bits for 160's and another CL175. Some how (this is still a bit fuzzy to me) I ended up with the 175, and he found all kinds of neat things.

This is a phone pic taken about half way thru construction. The tank on mine fairly clean(on the inside),no seat ,bars, rusted out wheels.
We replaced the wheels with a pair of CB160 rims/brakes(Bigger drums!!)As with all projects, more changes.

Note that the rear sets are complete in this pic, and it now carries CB pipes with homemade megs(ya I'm a cheep bastard)After screwing around with this little guy I found yet another CL 175,this one missing all the body work & the rear wheel, exhaust pipes, clutch side cover. The good news was that the main cases are not broken like the first one(no oil leak!!!!)Much ebay time ,and a bit of help from my(?) friend I rebuilt the little guy with new +.02 pistons,a Vert. head, vert trans. & barrels! And of course no project is good with out details.

A speedo face I made for the 5$ u pullit speedo.

A shot of the rattle canned tank & homemade badges.

A pic from the front with owner built clips, although this will change as I have a XL125 fork that will eventually replace the stockers,as soon as the new seals for those get here. They have had a coulpe of in. of travel taken from them,so that they are closer to the height of the CL legs.

For now ,Gimpy

I like insanity and bizzaro things... your home brew speed'o face, tank badges and exhaust mega's... very nice indeed !

Cheers

Welcome........................................

I like it. Insanity is the only way to go with these kinds of builds.

One day would like to find an engine for mine and go insane on my little 72 CB175.

Thanks,I'll add to this as soon as I get pics of the "new" engine, got it fired the other day, sounds better than the first one. After the first three warm ups & about 25 mi. it easily pulled up to 60 for a short burst.I don't think it'll pull a ton,but 75 on a 175 is a lot like a ton!!
