Today I closed the deal on a 1973CB550 and a 1974 CB550. The 73 runs fine and is a complete bike in need of serious cleaning and paint. The 74 parts bike has a running engine, a good frame, and a lot of parts in a large box. I will be picking the bikes up with my trailer on Wednesday. When I get both bikes home, I will decide my options. I could restore the 73 into a nice stock classic and build a Cafe Racer out of the 74 or I can build two Cafe Racers. Will see what materializes. Both bikes will need an exhaust system. The tank on the 74 is unservicable and the wire harness is trashed. The 73 is intact. It will take some time to sort things out. I will take a lot of pictures once the bikes are in my shop. This will be my first build. Since I am retired and have a new Honda NT700 to ride, I will take my time and do it right.

great! can't wait to see how it all goes. I'm considering doing a cafe racer out of a 70's cb550 in the near future. It will be my first real build and I'm out looking for ideas on how I'd like to do it.
