1975 cb125 tracker, for those budgeters

well ive had this cb125 for a while now, its un running, engine is great to say the least, just needs the electrical sorted out... my original intention was to cafe it but i decided i wanted to have the option for two people (the ladies : haha).
now everyone this is a budget build, mostly what i am doing is using stuff that can be found around the house/motorcycle yards (cycle salvage for me). But i want it to obviously look nice! sadly no pictures for today, i am a little into the process of buildin it . What ive got so far? took out the original tank, the cb125 has a great tank if you are making a cafe but i needed one more suited for tracker status. so i picked up 175 suzuki tank (mystery model) at cycle salvage for $40, inside it has been coated very nicely, bonus! has no rust anywhere. minor flaw... i call it the rider dent, the dent is at the top of the tank as if the rider has slid forward and slammed their ass off it, no biggie bondo to the rescue!

so true! im having it with a little rat bike flare into it, alot of the black like the frame and forks, etc. has that worn out look to it, looks pretty rad. not to mention saves me money on paint!

not really of the bike, but ive gotten the rest of the week off! time to build. little food for thought, im making a rack type thing to hold my skateboard more on that later!

finally got some pics for those eager eyes. basically i have jumped a bunch of steps in the thread as the bike never needed engine work, only body and electrical. here is a mock up pic of the new tank on it.

before anyone hates on me for the cellphone pics im gunna appologize for them. My camera has been lent to someone for a month so i cant take good pics, but the month is almost over so i should be able to get better pics!

ive made a cheapo sheet metal battery box (this is a budget build, i dont see why it would hurt it) i didnt weld the sides or anything fancy haha. it is all covered by the side covers anyway so looks isnt a problem.

now warp speed to where the bike is right now, all painted and assembled (minus headlight, turnsignals, tailight, lisence plate bracket and all wiring. got a good harness from ebay (already mentioned)

paint colour is called federal grey, painted my "race" numbers on (side covers were boring without them) my original plan was to get metal house numbers and rivet or screw them on.

no ive kept the suzuki tank, it holds the same amount of fuel (didnt really care) and i find it flows better with it.

A little update, I've gotten rid of my previous homemade seat. Didnt like it so much and with the little fender on the back the bike looked to much of a dirtbike? (ive put this in the tracker thread even though its kinda a cross between a tracker and cafe).
Now this seat is alot like the inspiration pic i posted on page one, the yellow bike. Total cost of seat? $15! the synthetic leather was $10-ish and all the screws/washers were around $5. everything else was all reused materials i found kicking around. Gives the bike a little eco friendlyness to it. Even the foam, was from a ratty old seat in the dump pile.
Yeah the faux leather aint so tight on it, it doesnt bother me, i kinda like it, makes it look like an old leather jacket.

Hey everyone, just made a cheap easy and un noticeable skateboard holder for the 125. first pic shows what you see, without a board on, pretty un noticeable compared to ones ive seen. second pic is with the skateboard on, its very sturdy for what its made from.

yeah its really firm, its only 1/4 inch rod that i have bent to hold it. barely moves when you jiggle the tail of the board off the end. one piece of the rod i have bent around a bolt (same size as shock bolt) then you just attach that part to the upper shock bolt.


the other piece was an old break linkage i had lying around, it is threaded on the end so i put it through the hole that use to have the centerstand handle bolted too, tightened it on and its ready to rock! (after you bend it)


i covered the back half of the rod with a rubber hose so it doesn't fuck up the grip when it rubs. i added the little loop on the back piece so i can use that strap to hold it in (really didnt need it but has even lesser a chance for the board to fly off on a bump)
