1979 cb750 k carbs

So my carbs on my 79 cb 750 k are shot and was wondering whats the best option for replacement, the motor is stock but the air box is pretty beat up but salvageable. I no lots of guys try and runs pods some not so successfully. It would easier just cause the state the air box is in so id like to replace the cabs with something that runs with min tuning. Suggestions? I've read the cr carbs work good? but was wondering what size and where to order if that is the best option, open to suggestions

Define "shot"?
Carburetors are not a consumable part. You can rebuild them.
 
main jet will not come out on 3 of the carbs, 2 of them are stripped and i would guess need to be drilled out, there all in all in really rough shape, previous owner has them plastered in silicon. There not good and really am tired of dealing with them so ordered a set of cr specials. Trying to find info on guys tuning them or any else to no
 
I'm in the UK not USA so cant help with supplier experience. I'm sure sudco sell a set of mikuni's ready spaced and jetted for the 750.
 
This has happened to me twice. Instead of going through the trouble of tuning CR's or the Mikuni's I just bought another set of 79 carbs on ebay and combined the two to make one good set.

well i pulled the pin and ordered the cr carbs should be here later this week, ordered with pods and jetting up and down a size for tuning. Any suggestions for install? anything i should no or just direct bolt on turn the key and go.

If they come with carb to head manifolds/boots then should be a bolt on. If not you will have to get creative with some radiator or marine fuel hose. One thing in your favour is that they should be correctly spaced so it should be straight forward. Depending on the size of the CR spigots a set of boots from a 80-82 GS1000 are the same size both ends its what I used to fit a set of GSXR carbs to a CB750.
 
Lob used the legit methods.

I did the radiator hose option. Cost me about 50 all told but the connectors will never look as sharp as fitted ones.

I hope the CRs work right away but be ready to tune! Good luck.
