Just wondering. Do you know if the 81 GS550L had the same engine mounting as the 82 GS450L? I am interested in the crash bar, if i know it'll fit!

I can take a few measurements to be sure, fastest way to know for sure is to google/forum search GSresources and see if the engine mounting locations are shared between 450 and 550.
