I got this Honda as a package deal with my XS500. Just looking to get rid of it for what I've put into it. I paid $400 for both bikes, neither running. I added fresh gas and installed a new battery on the Honda and it fired right up.
The bad:
It sat for 4 years before I got it
It only runs on full choke
It has an electrical problem that causes all the power to go out randomly (I think I've got it traced to some crispy electrical connectors near the main fuse)
There's a good size dent on the top/right side of the tank (not punctured)
Tires are bald and dry-rotted
No side covers
Front calipers (dual discs) were sticking so i took out the pads so i can roll it around the garage.
It will need a headlight/signal setup as the fairing that came with it was cracked beyond repair and parted out.
The good:
Cosmetically, it doesn't look too bad for being 26 years old and for having sat in a garage untouched for 4 years
It was stored inside by the previous owner and is currently out of the elements in my own garage (though I AM pushing my luck with the parentals)
It runs, although it tends to randomly cut out due to an electrical problem as stated earlier
It's cheap
The battery is new
The gas tank looks clean inside, but a good cleaning and lining wouldn't hurt.
