Recently picked this thing up from CL for $200.

Since the purchase last week, I've started painting the body panels and tank metallic charcoal with a rattle can, and just getting everything in working order. Once it all works again, I'm going to actually start the build.

Some previous owner home-rigging I'm undoing.

And the previous owner's idea of a quick-release fuel line.

Ordered a good bit of stuff today - fuel tap assembly, screws, cables, gaskets, washers, lots and lots of little things

Very similar to what I've got going on in my head for the long term.

Hoping to have something to bring to the Louisiana Car and Bike show - November 17.
This morning I was trying to decide if I wanted to replace the exhaust or rework the stock one. I think this decided it though.

Thankfully the engine is pretty immaculate inside from what I can see so far.

So this bike has a tragic story that puts me in a spot where I'm not sure if I need to do a full rebuild or not.
Original owner died in a car accident in the 90s, the bike was put in a storage unit. Has ~2k miles on it. Turns over, and when it had a little bit of gas in it, it ran for a bit (tank tap was ruined - no gas line). Needs a major throttle/idle adjustment, clutch and carb adjustments. Carbs have been rebuilt already and are in great shape.
Part (most) of me is asking because I'm intimidated by my first engine rebuild.
Thoughts? New plugs? Upper rebuild? What I can see through the oil tap and fill point is immaculate and clean.

^ It decided for me - it locked up yesterday.
Lots of progress today though. I should have time to pull the engine and pop it open for a real estimate of her in the next week.

Well at least you know. I'm may be in the same situation as my bike has been sitting since 1996. I know this thread is outdated but it'd be cool to see an update.
