Decided to build my honda rebel 250 into something different. I'm not sure on the style it's gonna be yet, hence me posting this in specials.

Some pics of the progress so far

Next up is suspension: monoshock
Is gonna need a lot of fabrication but hopefully worth the effort.

Cheers

Despite the lack of interest in this topic I'll post an update anyway :P

Didn't take a lot of pics but the monoshock is pretty much installed. Needs some finishing on the welding.

As you can see there will be no space for the original carb, will be going for dual carbs instead.
Due to limited free time and the shed where the bike's in being 60 miles away from my house, it's not going very fast. Should be done in 10 years at this pace :P

Kewl.......just not a fan of mono shock setup.

I do like it when something different is done on different bikes though.

Looks neat so far.....10 years.....that's the way I feel on my projects, and mine are just out the door.

Very cool. Will be great to see this thing develop. I would love to see a pic of the tank mounted on the frame but I can be patient if I really have to lol

Interesting that you did something similar to what I did on the frame. Check out my build linked below. I bent the frame rails, had a custom loop made, etc. Thought about the monoshock direction but never went further than fitting up a swingarm and buying a shock

Turns out the shock doesn't really work out this way, gotta figure something else out. It's way to soft now.. Probably gonna make it stand more horizontal.

maybe a plate under the seat area? rather than attaching it to the vertical loop, attach it to the bottom of the seat loop. just a thought

You can do 2 things to achieve a "harder" shock.

First, move the shock backwards, towards the rear wheel, this leads to a lower leverage ratio actuating on the shock, making it "harder".

Second, as the shock becomes more parallel to the swing arm it becomes softer, then having it at a 90° angle in respect to the swingarm would make it as "hard" as it can be.

Combining this 2 effects, would make the shock be harder even further. Although I think the correct thing to do would be to determine the leverage ratio of the stock rear suspension where the monoshock was, then replicate those numbers in your suspension.
