35mm Fork Preload adjusters?

Does anybody know of a place that makes 35mm suspension preload adjusters for a honda CB750 fork? Either made for those forks or for a different bike that will retrofit. I am used to having them on my sportbikes and mountain bikes and pretty much any two-wheeled scooter I have ever had and I would like to put some on my CB450 (with 750 forks).

try progressive suspension they make them for 35mm forks for the xs 650.
I think 650central might sell them he has a lot of race stuff. you could also try emailing steve carpenter and ask him he builds cb750's into cafe all the time should be able to give you a direction if he gets them.

fyi,

hope it helps

One of the apparantly best suspension upgrades you can do on old forks is a cartridge-emulator. I know nothing about them, but Mikesxs.com sells them for $49 and they're apparantly good for 35mm Honda forks too. Race-Tech sells the same things for $190 and the part number for the XS650 and Honda 550 are the same.

Check out forums.sohc4.net and search on the emulators.

I'm really just looking for the adjuster caps to help set the sag of the front fork. With the -2" legs I have I'm going to have to cut down the springs and I would like the fork caps to make sure I can increase the rate enough afterwards.

Well if you're into retro-fitting, the forks on my XS650 have pre-load ajusters built into the fork caps. Not sure how much use I'd get out of them frankly.

Have you considered an air-shock conversion for your 750? Would seem to accomplish similar goals and is a pretty common modification.

I was reading about the air-shock option today. It was what Steve "carpy" Carpenter suggested too. The main thing I am concerned about with those is people say they make the seals leak much sooner. I think I am just going to leave the springs a hair long when I cut them down and just go that route to add a little preload. I just want to make sure they don't sag to much with the bike being lowered with the -2" legs. It's probably going to be a son-of-a-bitch to get the caps in... I'll make a rig of some sort to do it.

I have been looking to see if I can find some from an earlier model HD Sportster... they used 35mm forks as well sometimes.

The main reason I am looking for some is so I would have a little more leeway when I cut down the springs and it would also make it easier to get the springs in. Put in the spring and then just up the preload after the caps are on and tight.

If you guys come across some let me know.
