400f post wreck repair help

SONICJK

Reminds me of...me No, I'm sure of it. I hate him
Well after laying her over in the feel I've commenced repairs.
Put on some new oury grips and some superbike bars which I like a lot.
Problem is I can't seem to get the front end back into alignment. It was heavily tweaked in the accident.
Here's how it currently sits,

That's looking head in at the bike and as you can see the wheel is tweaked pretty good.
I loosened all the triple clamps and put the wheel between my knees and turned until it seemed straight and tightened everything back up. Ride it and 20 feet later its right back where I started. And the triple clamps are tight.

Any ideas on what could possibly be the culprit?

I would say you unfortunately bent something. Probably a fork leg or maybe the triple lamps.. Do they look straight?

I would take it all apart, check each piece. If you find nothing put it back together. Maybe that will fix it.

Did you loosen the axle too? Also, check the fork brace.

The front ends on these often tweak on their own. I straighten mine out every once in a while too. I can hold the front wheel between my knees and torque it out of alignment with a little force.

That's why I recommend the fork brace too, it helps keep the lower tubes in alignment too.

I haven't fooled with the axle, ill try that. I'm thinking maybe the fork brace is bent.
It will be a few weeks before I can really tell though sadly

The axle is part of the structure. Remove it, check for straightness (Roll it on a flat surface)

Don't tighten the axle mounting bolts until the front is aligned.

I tweaked my CB360 when I took a spill, and didn't bend anything. It straightened out.

Your handlebars may be tweaked, too, that can fool you into thinking the triples are tweaked...been there too... 8)

You also have to twist past the center point and then let it spring back to central. Loosen fender bolts as well as the axle when you do that. The triples may be slightly tweaked though, but they are not hard to fix.

Handlebars were tweaked I replaced them. I didn't think about the axle, hopefully that will let it straighten out. That would sure be nice.

If the lower triple is bent, the trick is to remove the forks and strip them completely. Insert the legs into the lower triple and clamp the stem in a large vice and check for twists. You will be amazed at how easy it is to bend them back. Then try to fit the top triple to see if it's also tweaked. usually the top is OK.

That technique has been used on an MV 500 triple at Daytona one year and worked fine.

As it turned out the bottom seems okay but the top was bent and has a nice crack in it :/

it is likely that you bent a stanchion tube as well
very easy to check for
clamp the slider in a vice and slowly rotate the stanchion and look for runout,if you have a dial indicator even better but if it is bent you will be able to see it as you rotate it
most always they are bent just below the clamping area of the lower triple
they are easy to straighten if you can find somebody with the skill
