520 Chain Conversions for CB350 CL360 CB400 CB450 CB77

I just stumble across this thread. Unfortunately, I don't have a Honda project, but a '78 Kaw kz400 on which I wish to run a 520 conversion. Any suggestions? I've read some will grind down their OE sprockets to fit. Is the pitch really the same on the narrower chain???
 
The first number is the pitch in eighths of an inch, in this case "5" which equals 5/8th. .The second 2 numbers is the width of the roller.

630 3/4" 15/32" 3/8" 0.343"

Plate thickness is 1/8th of the pitch, except "extra-heavy" chain, which is designated by the suffix H, and is 1/32" thicker.

So a 520 and a 530 Chain have the same pitch and roller diameter...Just the width is different.
 
All 520 sprockets for the most part are 530 sprockets machined down to 525 or 520 sizes. the biggest factor is knowing the correct offset for the front and back. Also once the fronts are case hardened, it is very hard to machine them so all our front sprockets are cut down to 520 sizes prior to the hardening process.

As for the Kawa models I will have to look into it. I can have the rears cut and made no problem but the front are a ilttle more different as I only know or 1 or 2 guys who will make the 520 front sprockets for the older bikes and that have the correct specs.
 
We've gotten most of the CB750 Sprockets done and will be posting them on our site. Not sure why Honda decided to do so many different specs across the CB750 models hahaha
 
Nope. Most of the modern sportbikes use the same front sprocket depending on years. For example 99-14 CBR600RR & 04-14 CBR1000RR all use the same front sprocket. What bikes are you looking to compare?

Why not cut them for the SOHC CB750K? the sprtbikes use them and make way more power. Cognito sells a 520 offset counter? I personally will need one and intend to buy his but if I can get the exact gearing I want with a chain all packaged up, I might bite.

We have them for the 69-76 CB750's. The rear sprockets are easier to cut. We have them cut all the time. Its finding people who still have the specs and ability to cut the fronts. We have 1 guy who has been doing it for 40 years and used to be the machinist for sprocket specialists but he is a buit slow haha Yes we sell 100's of them for all the modern sportbikes as the new modern chanis are more then strng enough even for up to 1300cc on the 520 chains depending on the chain models.

We are working on specs for all the CB750's but Honda decided to use different specs for all the damn years haha

Yup and why you sell the hell out of em... used to be the chain wore out three to one on the counter but now if taken care of its one to one and the rears are like bic lighters a new one every ten fill ups lol.
 
So I have a CB450 that uses what I believe are the '68 models splined 10mm rear sprocket bolts. Will these rear sprockets fit these? or will I need to change the sprocket bolts over?
 
Anyone heard from MotoMadness recently? I've sent him a few messages and even called their sales office with no reply.
