65 BSA lightning vin number

Just put a deposit down on a 65 BSA lightning, couldn't find vin number on the frame. But vin number on the motor matches title. Anyone know if that's legit?

Found this...
"The frame number is located for BSA's 1969 and earlier on the left side of the frame, on the front
engine mounting lug."

On here...

It gives the breakdown of what your engine vin and frame vin should read too ;)

Thanks! I appreciate the info.

It is important to note that BSA motor and frame numbers do not match until mid 1966. Be sure both your motor and frame numbers are close in series and are both from 1965, not a BitSA. Check your serial numbers against the BSA Owners Club UK for the most accurate dating information:http://www.bsaownersclub.co.uk/Engine_Frame_Listing.html#1965

Good luck and post your bike when you get it. PM me for parts and factory service manuals.

Frame lug on left looks like this: take a pic with your phone and you can magnify it to possibly see better.
