Thanks a lot fellas. The support I've received from this forum has been very inspiring. Last night I set about on a ton of little details (still waiting for some parts). The electrical is done except for where I'll wire the ignition in. The fork brace finally fits after some modification. Got most of the cables routed and shored up some other elements. As I started crossing the chores off my to do list, the realization that the day to fire her up is near gave me butterflies (wait, butterflies sounds a bit wussy, we'll say bats!). Been kicking the heck out of her to get the oil circulated. I know my ignition will be here tomorrow. I'm hoping when I get home today that my carb insulators are waiting for me. That'll kill another point to the list. Just gotta get the proper length clutch cable. The Motion Pro one is way to long. I don't think I can make it work right. SOON!

Just fired her up last night! WOOO! It was a bit late so I got shut down by the wife before I could dial in the carbs. Gonna get to that early tonight after work. Damn she sounds mean! I'll shoot some video and post it up as soon as I can.

I had been trying the night before with no luck and then in a flash I thought about the wires going to the coils and that I may have them backwards. Sure as shit, VROOOOOOM! I let out a little girlie scream. My wife even came out to say congratulations. Of course then she shut me down, but hey, it was still nice of her. Now I really need to get that seat pad made.

Not yet. I was going to borrow one of our HD cameras from work but they're all in use. Looks like it'll just be regular DV tonight. :-[

Yes sir it is! Fires on the first kick. I've been slowly letting her come alive. Kick it, let it run, dial it in. Glad I still have a few things to button up. It keeps me from going for to heavy of a honk. This weekend will be for some serious tuning. Running a bit lean so I may have to bump up the jets a bit. We'll see. All in good time. I'm not going to rush 6 months worth of work onto the road just to blow it up.

OK, no photos, but a few details are getting done.

1. Carved my seat pad out of some high density foam used for kayak seats...Check

2. Realized it was a pain in the nuts to sit on.....ouch..check

3. Tonight I'll carve out a trough for for gel pads...AHHH. Happy nuts.

4. Tonight I will complete the seat cover...Hopefully.

After this it's tuning over the weekend and then out to the streets for a proper shake down. I'll post pics of all the seat work tonight or tomorrow. Sorry I've been light on the photos lately. I've been keeping my hands more on the tools the the camera.

-side note, completely n00b question- but what purpose does the steering damper serve? is it necessary?
