72 cb450 Triple

Hi there. I bought my first bike last week, a 72 cb450 and when I was taking apart the front end to replace the fork seals the triple cracked. The only one I can find is on eBay and it is off a 70 cb450. I am unsure if this will fit so I was hoping someone could help me out. If anyone has one that would fit and they would be willing to sell, that would be great.

Somewhere in 69-70 the top triple clamp changed from a bolt through to clamp type, I forget which. I do know that from 71-74 are direct fit for the CLAMP type tops.

If it has clamps and is from a 450 you should be ok. Make sure you get and use the spacers that go into the splits in the clamps or you will break them again.

Good thing to hunt down a shop manual as well, there should be links to downloads all over the net. There is a specific sequence of tightening front end parts as it goes back together, mess up and well you prolly guessed you can/will crack the clamp. ;D

If you are going to put clip ons on the bike, buy the billet upper triple from dime city. Much better part than the stock top clamp. If not, the 70-74 clamps are the same.
