The front fender support also acts as a fork brace. You can drill out the rivets for the fender and just use the brace or fab up a new one. Makes a difference. Will also extend the life of the triple trees.
Getting close...just waiting for a few more parts to arrive and need to mod the throttle cable for length. Got some barrel nipples in the mail today and am going to try to solder them on the original cables after shortening. Got some Uni filters that are jammed against the frame but fit, too.
Decided to just keep it simple for the choke on the Keihin PE24s and will order button chokes: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350463230401
After fitting the carbs it seems the choke buttons would be pretty easy to get to. Don't plan on linking them but I think I can get by fine like that.
Two random questions:
1. How much play should I expect in the front sprocket. Mine seems fairly wiggly (without the chain on)
2. Noticed that my fuel tank is slightly dented around the petcock like the petcock got jammed into it at some point. To head off any leaks I was looking at just laying down some Permatex Motoseal #1 gasket maker...it says its gasoline resistant. Is that a bad idea?

Question one; fairly wiggily is okay. Oh,and DSP is right, you really need that brace in there. These forks are pretty spindley and if you plan on riding hard in the twisty's your going to want that stabilizer. Just drill out the rivets and paint it black it will pretty much blend with the tire. my.02
OK, I checked out some fork braces but all the cool ones are for dirtbikes and won't fit. I'm saving the fender so I can cut the brace out later if needed....its just sooooo ugly. I seriously plan to cruise this thing around town like a scooter, so I'm not too worried.
My tank is already sealed and looks nice inside. I meant a dent underneath so that there may be a gap between top edge of petcock and bottom of tank. Tried to find the Permatex stuff and some Loctite made for press fittings (for the petcock barbs) and could not locate either one.
New problem is the made-in-Thailand Keihins I got. The caps are not threaded for a throttle cable adjuster. I can order all of the parts I need for $60, but before that I am going to try just sitting the adjusters form the CB200's original carbs on the top of the new ones. I think I got them synched pretty well by just adding a thin washer under one of them.

This bike is one of the best cb200's ive seen, would love to see how it ended up. A few questions which rear shocks did you go for
and how long are they. Are both rims 1.85" or did you have to go bigger for the rear. What tyre is the rear?

Its been a while since I touched the bike. Moved to a new house in June and its been in the corner since. Just needs some choke buttons put on and the gas lines rerouted and then should be ready to fire up for the 1st time. Its been so long, its hard to remember, but I think the rear tire is 3.5" wide. I think they are IRC GS11s if that sounds right. Both rims are stock. I believe the shocks are like a 1/4" or something shorter than stock but the springs are way beefier so that helps with the look. They were Assault brand that I found on ebay a while ago. Maybe made by Redwing?
