Ian, this bike sold in about 2 nanoseconds as you can well imagine. I called him the day it went up. Not sure why it heasn't come down yet.

Heck, the wheels alone on that bike (shouldered alloy) would fetch $300+ on eBay. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. Missed it just like I missed that fine XS650 last summer for $1500 (the one with the ducati like silver bodywork, mikuni's, 1 size over pistons, RAASK rearsets... still all burned into my mind).

Ya ... I didn't think it would hang around long at that price. Did he say why he was selling it on the cheap side ??

No - the number is his work number and I didn't want to ruin his day by suggesting he could likely have gotten 2x as much for it ;)

My brother just picked up the equivalent in Winnipeg for the same price. I just keep telling myself buying a running bike takes all the fun out of it. ::)

Very nice!!.. Congrats on the bike Dan!!..

Thanks :)

Better frame than the earlier one, alloy rims... do need to find a new front end so I can run better shocks but that can wait until I find them. Attending your local CVMG etc meeting can pay off!

Oh yah... ALL the fun... and WHO is having the fun reboring your 650? Oh yah... a mechanic ::)

All I get to do is the customization... no fun there ;D

So you think I should bore the cylinders myself? With what, my cordless Dewalt? This isn't a hone, this is taking .5mm out of the cylinder walls.

Japanese bikes are less forgiving than the Germans. You can get away with honing your cylinders with some goofy DIY Princess Auto thing that doubles as a toilet bowl cleaner.

BTW - I spoke too soon - It would seem my BMW really misses the old bars cause the throttle is still a little spastic. I'm riding tonight anyhow. Always have a clutch and a kill switch if it gets out of hand ;)
