Hi there,
Recently bought a 77 yamaha xs 500 as my first bike. One of the connector rings to the battery broke, so we replaced that and the bike would start but wouldn't idle. All gas lines had been replaced right after I bought the bike, so figured it was a bad old battery. I took the battery, got it tested and it was toast. Replaced the battery and now the bike starts fine and idles no problem.
Took it out for a ride yesterday, runs fine in first and second, when you get it up to speed, it bogs down and stalls out at speed. After is has stalled, its difficult to get it started again (sometimes the connectors have to be jiggled and played with) I have no idea where to even start. Before all these issues with the broken connector and replacing the battery, the bike was running completely fine. I thought I had the battery issue fixed but it keeps stalling at speed. Is this something more than a battery issue?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
