'80 yamaha xs 400 advice

not too familiar with this bike. did some googling and saw a few cafe conversions but does anyone have experience with this bike as far as a base for a cafe racer?

Any bike can be "cafe" styled man. Just depends on how much work you want to put in. The xs400 is a pretty good start though. If its a good deal, and you like it, go for it.

XS400 make great cafe's... Shitty chops unless you"ve got some skills. The wheel base is pretty short for a bob/chop

They're very easy to cafe, and an absolute blast in the corners, but the motor gets boring pretty quick. See my build.

Haha. Some friends I would let ride it in a heartbeat, some would have to catch me in a really good mood, and some would get (and have gotten) a "hell no!". The big mistake I made involved alcohol, or my buddy's use of it. But in the end, it's just an object, and if they make it right...no big deal.
