I am going to look at a 75 rd250 today. Have lusted after one for quite a while although i'd really like a 350. The guy is asking 1500 for it and it seems to be in pretty stellar shape running well with title. I think he is in the ballpark I know 350 have gone for a lot more. I am wondering if the demand is out there for the 250 should it not be my cup of tea. I just can't afford to loose my ass on any more motorcycles lol. If it's a solid investment I wouldn't mind giving the guy 1200.. any thoughts?

Very neat bikes, not as fast as most people remember, but that doesn't keep them from being a blast to ride. You're in Ohio? A big bike mecca, and the price is right. $1.5k for a decent one is pretty reasonable. I don't know how big you are, but my 210lb. fat ass took quite a bit of the performance away, but still enjoyed riding it. ALWAYS make sure the oil injector is clean and in working order and I seem to remember they don't get all that good m.p.g. But I do remember the build quality was really good, even though it's small, it doesn't feel like a toy.
 
Stellar shape with a title > ? I'd buy it for something between $1,200 and just south of the asking price ;D... I mean if I were shopping for a RD250 ???.. and actually had any money ::)
 
Dude - you just can't stop yourself! I think it's a decent buy at 1200-1500. Met a guy several years ago racing a basically stock one at mid-Ohio (back in the AHRMA days). he was in his late 60's and had owned it since new- rode the snot out of it. Said it was fast enough to be fun, but not scary! Got to ride soon.

hardy har har..... I offered the guy 1100 he didn't bite. Honestly i'm glad he didn't the bike was real nice with super low miles and started from cold with a half a kick. Something felt off about the low revs like no power at all. The power band was definitely in full effect and quite a cool feeling. It needed tires bad and the tank was pretty dented but otherwise you'd be pressed to find a cleaner 75' original shape bike. I think im gonna hold out for the deep freeze prices of winter and hopefully stumble on a 350 which i'd rather have anyhow.
 
A 250 is the same bike as a 350 same frame tank seat crank, case all you need to convert is 350 jugs heads and pistons
 
so in my search for an affordable RD I stumbled across a running in pretty damn good shape 1971 Suzuki t500. I LOVE IT> I BOUGHT IT> MORE TO COME!!!!!
 
WTF!!!!! Looks like you got the deal of the year... That is beyond cool. I know this is a café sight, but how can you improve on old school cool. I would ride the wheels of that thing.
 
675 are you kidding me? You get milk crates full of parts and no title for 675 where I'm at. WTF
 
the title is from the 2nd owner 1975 !!! It's pretty cool. can you tell my wife that it was a good deal she is pretty pissed about the whole thing. I was all like " babe i can't lose on this one" .

Show her any ad you can find for a T500. That thing is going to return more $ than my 401k did last year. In my neck of the woods you could add a 3 in front of that 675 and still wouldn't be hard to sell. If you weren't 2000 miles away I'd give you 1,500 today for it. You stole the bike, it has a few things that aren't perfect, but almost has perfect patina. That is a rider. I think you could get as much for the rims as you paid for the bike...
 
Theres some issues with paint being where i wish it weren't and the seat is not original. But all in all i was pretty shocked with the condition/price ratio. It is all original with the exception of the paintjob. I'm not wild about the paint but it's not too poorly done. A good clear coat and it would look pretty good may just do that for now but will eventually get a good paint scheme down. Seat must be changed to at least the original flat plank but the king/queen is pretty comfy i must admit. The only thing it doesn't do well is stop!!! That front drum brake is grossly underpowered for a bike this weight/hp
