A different tank option for my cb750... What do you think?

Okay, so at work today this guy called me and asked if I wanted a tank off of a newer Honda superbike. He said it was by the road in a pile of limbs and stuff. So naturally tonight I took my tank off and placed this new tank on it. There's something I like in it, but I'm easily excited. What I was thinking about is taking an idea I saw on a thread on building a carbon fiber sv650 tank, which is taking splash molds of the tank. I'll thin the tank out of the middle and the peaks on the sides of the tank and make the tunnel deeper so it would sit lower. Then make a fiberglass tank. I would then make a fiberglass tail section to match up with the tank. I would also install a fork brace (I have one.) and clip ons, and eventually a homemade top triple tree clamp and new headlight ears. Maybe even dual headlights... SO... What do you guys think? Good or bad, give it to me straight. This would mean a lot of work, and while I'm eager to do the work, I don't want it to be a two wheeled design abortion. Also, anyone know what bike this tank is from? It's BIG. Here are some pics.

The tank is from a 919 and it looks terrible on your 750. But that's just my opinion.

Actually... Im not sure if I can agree with the Dr...

At first I was a bit stunned.. but then it actually looks interesting...
You might reposition it a bit, lower the back of the tank if possible.
Id loose the rear fender and grab rail...
Id paint the tank & seat cover the same colour...

Believe it or not, I see some potential with that tank...

Can you lower the front end a bit?...and give it a bit of a rake?....

I think the fact that your seat is not on properly is throwing it off a bit....

I actually like it...

reminds me of a Monster... If you can somehow mold the seat into the tank (or lose/fill the seat flange) it'll look better.

oh yeah, the fender and the grab rail will be gone as soon as I find a taillight I like and a new, wider tail would be fabbed to fit right up to the back of the tank. And push the fork tubes out of the trees a bit... maybe...
The stock tank is already back on. What I'm going to do is take molds of the 919 tank and try to modify it and enhance my fiberglass skills. That way even if I don't like it, I'll have learned something.

I like it but, you definitely need to do some mods to the seat to have it flow with the tank. Maybe a fiberglass seat that forms with the contours when it meets the tank. Lot of work but, what the hell right...

Thanks for the responses! If I do anything with that tank, I will make a new tail section out of glass that compliments it. Anything I go that route with will be a long time in the undertaking. But I'm about to have to tear my bike down to get rid of some oil leakage and add some paint all around. So who knows? Once I get some progress and some pics I'll start a Big Arse projects thread.

100% agree! i think the tank is pretty sick man... if oyu are making your seat i would glass that to flow into the tank... wiht that smooth flow you are basicly going to ahve to get rid of any stiff lines (strait flowing level lines) I would follow what oyu see on modern rockets and ust that for ideas and paint... I like it man! hell if you do not use the tank i would be intrested in it!
