Aftermarket satin black rims with black spokes?

After a ton of calling around to chrome strippers, the powder coater, and and a shop that will lace the wheel spokes after powdercoating, it's getting pretty expensive. It makes more sense to buy a after market wheel and spokes that are already black.

I have a 72 CB500/4 K. Does anyone know of a company that sells satin black rims with satin black spokes?

Any help is much appreciated!

There's no way new rims and spokes will cost less than refinishing your old ones.

You can strip chrome off yourself using hydrochloric or muriatic acid and water. (Google it) If the Chrome is in good shape, leave it on. I've powdercoated a ton of stuff with factory chrome in good condition and never had a failure.

It's the cost for lacing that's expensive. I found a really affordable stripper who will take the chrome, nickel, and copper off for about $35/wheel. I just wonder if he can just strip it with the spokes in place?
 
I doubt a chromer will strip anything that is assembled. You are going to have to spend the money to lace em whether you redo yours or build new ones with new rims and spokes.
 
When the chrome is not peeling or rusting through and seems to be in good shape I have my blaster just "dust/frost" the chrome by giving it an acceptable profile without going through the chrome requiring it to be completely removed.
I checked Buchanan's and didn't realize rims were so expensive, I didn't see anything on their site for less than $150. Refurbing your rims by powder coating them would be a bunch cheaper than starting from scratch and building new wheels.
These were "frosted" and coated for $40 each.

Beautiful. Will you be lacing them yourself?
 
At $150 per rim, $100 for spokes, and $50 for nipples your at $300 a wheel before lacing. I can coat the rims, spokes, and nipples for $240 for the pair of wheels. The prices for new were not for coated parts so plan on even more money to the $300 per wheel price. Buchanan's gets $90 to polish a rim.

No I am not lacing them. These belong to forum member 1sttimer. I did the nipples for him last week.
 
Whatever you choose to do, lace them yourself and bring them to someone to get trued. I say this because lacing is easy but takes time. That being said your paying a shop by the hour(usually $65/hr or more) so reduce that by lacing the rims yourself. There is countless sites and videos of how-tos. I've been there, that's why I'm telling you.

You don't want to strip it in place. Disassembling and re-assembling the wheel is your best bet and you'll want to inspect the spokes, nipples and rims when you do it. Look for cracks and stress in the rims, bent or "dented" spokes and cracked nipples along with corrosion.

If you're afraid to break something during disassembly/re-assembly because you already know there's damage or you suspect the parts may not hold up then you probably should consider new parts or just spray bomb the wheels and look for new ones down the road.

Even if they could strip them assembled no coater worth their salt will coat them assembled, so they would need to come apart anyways.
