Air Box

Will air box from a 1978 CB750A work on my 1978 K model? Fella I got my project bike from has some aftermarket box on there and it SUCKS. Found a good deal on ebay for A model box. Should I jump on it?

Disclaimer: I have no experience with the CB750, I only did a Google search to find an answer to your question.

Found 1 link on eBay that advertises a CB750 1978 Air Box, however in the compatibility list (there's a link on the eBay page) it also lists the air box to be compatible with 1970 to 1976 CB750 models.

It is a $13 part, so if I were you and were unable to get any solid compatibility information on the part I would just order it and see what happens. If it isn't compatible you could possibly return it or put it back up for sale. For the price of a medium pan pizza, it shouldn't be a huge gamble :P

My guess is that the air box would be the same. But again, that's a guess.

I'm new to rebuilding motorcycles so its not an expert opinion, but that's what I would do if I were you. Can't really go wrong for just $13.

Check the factory microfiche for both and see if they have the same part numbers... available at various online parts sources... those re excellent ways to do a cross reference check. Some even have a reverse look-up to tell you what all models a part was used on!

Excuse my lack of knowledge but arent microfiches those old photo-negative type things? Where would one get a hand on that? I'm actually more intrigued by the microfiche than the original question by the OP now! /nerd

Go to bikebandit.com and look for oem parts - it'll pull up digitized clean copies of the old drawings.

This is more fun - using the part number you glean from the fiche, you can check for compatible machines here:

I'll second looking up parts #s and checking for compatibility that way. Easy to do. And yeah, $13 is only $13, but you wouldn't just throw away $13 if you didn't have to, right? Plus I am assuming there is shipping...

Oh absolutely. Why waste $13+shipping. To be honest, I didn't really know about the look up. Probably will use it myself next time instead of asking in the forum.
