Hey guys. I figured since I have been hanging around the site for about 14 months now - being filled with information and inspiration - that I would finally get around to sharing my project from last winter. It is a 1974 CB450 that I bought locally from a chap who had intentions of restoring it and just never got around to it. The bike had 9500 original miles on it. Last week I finally got around to taking the camera out with me when I went for a ride.
Most of the parts come from Benjie's Cafe Racers - steel tank and seat, clip on bars, stainless pipes, rearsets, headlight bracket. Frame was modified and trimmed, fenders shortened and then all powdercoated along with the rims. Hubs polished and relaced with new spokes. Tires are Avon Roadriders. New fork tubes from Tarrozzi and rear shocks are Progressive Suspension. Picked up nos switchgear and speedo on ebay. Head bearings converted to tapered rollers, swingarm bushings are custom machined bronze pieces, stainless braided brake lines, CRG barend mirrors.
Bike is still electric start (if you don't feel like kicking it) with all electrics and battery located under the seat hump.
She is my first project and was a lot of fun to do and is truly a blast to drive. I have a couple of Ducatis and I can honestly say this is just as much a smile maker and gets as much attention from people on the street.
