Any one have a trick to removing exhaust gaskets?

Any one have a trick to removing exhaust gaskets? It is on an xs750. I don't want to damage the head, but I can't seam to get them out. It was much easier on my Honda CB. Anyone have a trick?

pry them out. damaging the head will be limited to the mating surface of the gasket in the worst case...

On the two bikes I've had, both late 70's Honda's, I just used a small screwdriver to get behind them and pop them out.

Yup, use a small pick with a 90 degree bend on it and pry it out... Small pick sets should have various bent ends to them. Very useful and no garage should be without a set

The small imperfection you MAY put on the mating surface will be negligible once you put the new crush gasket in there.
