What's with all the sudden interest in Bandits lately? I've had mine for 7 years but almost never saw anyone else on the road with one. I've never seen another rider in Toronto wearing a Simpson. So why are people into these now? I just bought my first new helmet since the Bandit. It's a Suomy Gunwind from Parker Bros. They were blowing them out for $99 from over $600 but they're a few years old but I don't care. Gotta admit it's a helluvalot more comfortable and quieter than the Bandit. One reason I got the Simpson is because I used to by Streetfighters magazine and lots of Brit riders had them and also because no one else wore them. Exclusivity is tough to maintain.

the first time i ever saw one was in one of noel's pics, never seen it before , i knew i wanted it, don't know why, makes sense to me on a design level, badass and impractical just like a motorcycle,

Yes Noel, you are the trendsetter but I wonder where you got the idea from? Seriously though Simpson helmets aren't exactly luxurious and take a bit of commitment to own. And they go better with bigger, faster bikes. Simpsons and cafes don't really mix in my opinion. I don't wear mine on the 350, it's overkill.

Crappy knockoff, beware of imitations. Simpson is the original and true maker of the Bandit among other very cool helmets, mostly for auto sports.

The Simpson Model 30 was the predecessor to the current Bandit. I call it the Lou Reed helmet since it's on one of his album covers. I have one in the DrJ permanent collection.
